New Dogs on the Block

From sunny afternoons at Freeport Beach to family fun at Gravel Pit Park and relaxing days at our local wineries, North East offers something for everyone. But one important family member is often left out of the adventure — our dogs! Thankfully, a new local business is making sure tails are wagging all across town.

Recently opened in North East, Scavenger Healthy Treats is bringing healthy, homemade dog treats to the community and quickly winning over both pets and their owners

Since 2023, owners John and Denise Cyranowski have been working toward turning their passion for dogs and healthy living into a business. “We always wanted to start a business, and we love our dogs, and we have always talked about how treats are bad for dogs. So, we decided to make healthy dog treats, and our dogs love them,” John shared.

Like many successful small businesses in our region, Scavenger Healthy Treats got its start at local craft and artisan events. The couple began selling their treats at the Frontier Park farmers market, where customer support and demand quickly grew. “People kept asking us to open up a dog treat store,” John said.

That encouragement led to the opening of their storefront in North East, and the response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive. Today, Scavenger Healthy Treats ships products to customers in five states, including Pennsylvania, Arizona, Michigan, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin.

What truly sets the business apart is its commitment to quality ingredients and canine health. All treats are made with 100% natural, human-grade ingredients and contain no artificial flavors or preservatives. Some customer favorites include the peanut butter apple crunchy treats, sweet potato crunch cookies, and large crunchy bones.

Dog owners can stop into the shop at 53 Clay Street in North East or order online through www.scavengerhealthytreats.com. Whether your pup enjoys a crunchy snack after a day at the park or simply deserves a healthy reward, Scavenger Healthy Treats is helping make North East a little more dog-friendly — one treat at a time.
