Pet Parade makes wishes come true with Disney theme

Gibson Park will transform into the Happiest Place on Earth June 17 when it welcomes pets and their owners for the 4th Annual Pets in the Park Pet Parade.

This year, the event sponsored by The Skunk & Goat Tavern, will feature a Disney theme and benefit Erie Animal Network.

“We can’t wait to see all the characters and costumes,” said Annē Lewis, director of marketing for Red Letter Hospitality, who plans on bringing her puppy Remy. “It’s always such a fun day for a great cause.”

All well-behaved, leashed pets are welcome to participate. Registration can be completed online prior to the event for a discounted rate by visiting The Skunk & Goat Tavern’s website or Facebook page. Or arrive at 11 a.m. June 17 and register onsite.

The parade will begin at noon and process around the perimeter of the park. But you don’t have to bring or register your pet to enjoy the event. Spectators are welcome to come and enjoy the parade and all the activities going on in the park.

This year the Pet Parade coincides with the first Gibson Park Open Market, so people can shop from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for unique pet products from a variety of vendors along with produce from Burch Farms Country Market, plants, baked goods, wine and locally made crafts.
