Calling all kids

See you Thursdays for Picnic in the Park

No kidding around. Gibson Park is the place to be on Thursdays during the summer for kids of all ages.

It’s an annual tradition that dates back decades and includes free arts & crafts and entertainment in the park from 11:30 am to 1 pm.

Picnic in the Park is hosted by The North East Arts Council with grant funding from The North East Community Foundation, ECGRA and The PA Council on the Arts.

These days, the picnic part is up to you. But don’t worry if you don’t have time to pack your own, North East offers plenty of places to pick up something good to go within walking distance from the park – including Bebe’s Basket, The Bean, Butch’s China Jade, Dragonfly Sweets, La Casa de Pizza, Michael’s, The Skunk and Goat Tavern and Subway. And other tasty options are just a short drive away.

Crafts vary from week to week as do the artist, but it’s always a good time.

The North East Arts Council is always creating fun things to do around town for all ages, abilities and interests. Here’s a few on the agenda this summer:
